What’s Happening With Antonio Brown Rape Accusations: DETAILS

The New England Patriots player Antonio Brown is being sued by former trainer Britney Taylor. In a lawsuit filed on Tuesday at the South District of Florida, she has accused him of sexual assault including forcible rape. Taylor is specifically charging her former trainee with sexual battery (rape), battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, false imprisonment, and invasion of privacy. Brown, who officially signed with the Patriots on Monday afternoon, has denied all allegations.

The wide receiver’s attorney, Darren Heitner, made a statement about the situation,

“Mr. Brown denies each and every allegation in the lawsuit. He will pursue all legal remedies to not only clear his name, but to also protect other professional athletes against false accusations.”

Taylor and Brown’s relationship goes farther back than present time. They attended college together at Central Michigan University when the trainer was still a gymnast. They were allegedly paired up for bible study at the time within the Christian Athletes group. Although Brown had moved on to play professional football and Taylor transferred to another university, they allegedly stayed in touch. Taylor claims he asked her for a revealing picture during her senior year in 2013, to which she denied. Afterwhich, they lost touch for four years.

Taylor claims they reconnected in 2017 after the football star reached out via Facebook. Brown allegedly asked her to help him improve his flexibility, ankle strength, and fast twitch muscles. Taylor allegedly accepted the proposition which caused her to fly out to various locations in Pittsburgh and Florida where Brown lived and trained.

The lawsuit states the following,

“Ms. Taylor never dated or had an interest in any romantic relationship with Brown. Their relationship, as far as Ms. Taylor believed and behaved, was that of a ‘brother-sister’ type.”

Brown’s former trainer has accused him of sexually assaulting her twice in June of 2017 during training sessions. The first allegedly took place at his home in Pittsburgh where Taylor was allegedly staying because Brown didn’t get her a hotel. Taylor was changing in Brown’s bathroom when he allegedly walked in with his penis exposed. As she tried to leave with her eyes covered, she claimed he grabbed her and kissed her without her consent.

The other instance, per the lawsuit, happened later that same month in Brown’s Miami home. Taylor claimed Brown masturbated near her without her knowledge and even ejaculated on her. Taylor was allegedly watching footage of a church escort service in DC on her iPad during the incident. Taylor claimed she “realized what occurred when she felt a wet spot soak through her clothing.” After confiding in her mother and Brown’s chef about this incident, she was allegedly fired. Taylor claims Brown bragged about the alleged incident in “astonishingly profane and angry text messages.”

Taylor cut off all communication with Brown after the incident. It was only after he reached out several months later — “expressing contrition, begging forgiveness and pleading with her to train him again,” that they began communicating again. Taylor allegedly agreed to come back and handle tasks such as administrative work, travel booking, and babysitting.

According to the lawsuit, in Miami on May 20th of 2018, Brown allegedly forced Taylor onto his bed, pushed her face into the mattress, and raped her. The lawsuit reads,

“Ms. Taylor tried to resist him, but Brown was too strong and physically overpowered her. She screamed and cried throughout the entire rape, repeatedly shouting ‘no’ and ‘stop.’ Brown refused and penetrated her.”

It also states that the alleged assaults and rape from Brown have “severely traumatized” Taylor, and as a result, she is suffering from “near-daily panic attacks and suicidal ideations.”

Taylor ceased to work for Brown after the alleged rape. In a statement on her part, she gives us insight on her story,

“As a rape victim of Antonio Brown, deciding to speak out has been an incredibly difficult decision. I have found strength in my faith, my family, and from the accounts of other survivors of sexual assault. Speaking out removes the shame that I have felt for the past year and places it on the person responsible for my rape. I will cooperate with the NFL and any other dc escort agencies; however, at this time, I respectfully request that the media please respect my privacy.”

Brown’s attorney has shared the football player’s full statement via a tweet which claims Brown and Taylor were in a “consensual personal relationship” and “any sexual interaction with Brown was entirely consensual.”

Taylor is seeking an award of damages for her alleged physical injuries, pain and suffering, humiliation, embarrassment, stress and anxiety, loss of self- esteem and self-confidence, and emotional pain and suffering, as well as an award of punitive damages to deter Brown from engaging in “future illegal and/or wrongful conduct.

As far as the NFL’s response on the matter, Brown’s team said in a statement,

“We are aware of the civil lawsuit that was filed earlier today against Antonio Brown, as well as the response by Antonio’s representatives. We take these allegations very seriously. Under no circumstance does this organization condone sexual violence or assault. The league has informed us that they will be investigating. We will have no further comment while that investigation takes place.”
