Trump tweets that journalism meal is dead, total catastrophe
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is once more railing versus the annual White Dwelling Correspondents’ Affiliation evening meal amid criticism of the comedian who roasted his spokeswoman.
Trump states on Twitter Monday: “The White Household Correspondents’ Dinner is Useless as we know it. This was a total disaster and an humiliation to our fantastic Place and all that it stands for. Phony Information is alive and nicely and superbly represented on Saturday night!”
For the next year in a row, Trump skipped the supper, in its place holding a rally in Michigan.
The once-a-year event built headlines just after a plan by comedian Michelle Wolf. Some of her jokes about Sarah Huckabee Sanders in particular drew heavy criticism.
WHCA President Margaret Talev says she’ll work with the next president on “the format of the supper going ahead.”
