SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) – Puerto Rico’s governor has signed a regulation meant to speed and inspire adoptions, partly by allowing for unmarried partners to adopt kids in the socially conservative U.S. territory.
The regulation also permits biological moms to hand over a new child to hospitals without struggling with expenses of baby abandonment.
And the legislation signed will generate a central registry of men and women seeking to undertake a baby. It aims to streamline the process so children can be placed with their adoptive parents in just two months.
The evaluate was submitted by Puerto Rico Dwelling of Representatives President Carlos Mendez. He is adopted and has mentioned that his case took 19 many years to take care of underneath old regulations.
