Motorcycling-Marquez wins in Texas for sixth year in a row



AUSTIN, Texas, April 22 (Reuters) – Honda’s reigning MotoGP earth winner Marc Marquez received the Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin for the sixth yr in a row on Sunday to take his initial victory of the period in dominant fashion.

The 25-year-old Spaniard had commenced fourth following amassing a three-spot grid penalty in qualifying but seized the lead on the opening lap just before disappearing into the length at the Circuit of the Americas.

It was Marquez’s 10th successive gain in the United States in the major category.

Compatriot Maverick Vinales, who had started on pole place for Yamaha, completed second and 3.5 seconds guiding Marquez though Suzuki’s Italian Andrea Iannone was third.
